Working with geometric shapes led me to cutting and pasting photographs—multiples of one picture, paper scraps, and different photos of the same subject. I altered some of the photos with filters and other enhancements before printing.
These pieces are all portraits of a sort. Portraits of a place, a memory, a person at a certain place and moment. They are all very personal to me but I think they work aesthetically and intellectually without knowing the people or places within. It is up to the imagination or “the Mind’s Eye” to see a story or meaning in them.
Fragments and multiples interspersed with colour and loosely related material make an appealing portrait.
I like the idea of a portrait that is more than a single image.
